Is the Reef Bar - Tropics Restaurant seasonly or permanently closed?

I was there this weekend, and it was not reopened, even though the Mid-Century restoration of its interior is now complete.
There is no furniture inside. The big "for lease" is a silent sentinel in front.

However, this post indicates that it was open in summer of 2010:

However, winter is Palm Springs' "in" season, as opposed to summer.
So, is it permanently closed until a new investor opens the door, or is it doing a reverse opening, and will not reopen until Memorial Day weekend?

Sadly,..... closed. It should be noted that it really never did get truly open. What a strange trip its been. Reason enough to think of it as the reefer bar.

SOMEONE... Please open this place as a Polynesian Tiki Bar. So much potential.

Funny, as there are not that many "straight" places in Palm Springs, seemingly only the Riviera, the Marriott, Zeldas and a brewery/pub. Certainly there is room for another.

However, the tourist business there is soooo seasonal.
Frankly, it would make more $$$ by becoming a Gay Tiki Mecca, where the guys could go native every day of the year.

I think Toucan's Tiki Lounge already has that covered. :)

I must have missed Toucan's in the Tiki Road Trip.
But I do like, "Come party in our jungle!"
