The Hula Girls with Stray Cat, Lee Rocker, at The Galaxy Theater 3/5/11!

Pages: 1 33 replies

That's right! The Hula Girls will be opening up for the legendary rockabilly revivalist, Lee Rocker, on March 5th, 2011!!
We are sincerely honored to be opening up for another guy from one of our most influential bands, The Stray Cats (we have also opened up for drummer, Slim Jim Phantom, in the past).

Tickets are $12 from us and $15 at the door.
I'll be at Don's THIS Saturday at the benefit, with tickets for sale. I will also be at Don's NEXT Monday at happy hour with tickets for sale.

Dancing with us are "Curse of the Tiki" cover model, Dinah DeRosa and Judy Luck!

Please buy tickets from us, as the more tickets we sell, the more opportunity we get to play at the fabulous Galaxy Theater. Also on the bill are OC rockabilly veterans, Big Sandy and the Fly Rite Boys!
Here's the link to our web store: http://thehulagirls.bigcartel.com/product/the-stray-cat-lee-rocker-with-the-hula-girls-big-sandy-and-his-fly-rite-boys

Thanks Spike, and this is gonna be a great show!

I was able to get a sneak peak and some of Lee Rocker's material from his upcoming album...and let me tell you, that shit is GOOD! It could possible be the best Lee Rocker album so far, and that's saying a lot since all his albums have been excellent!

Going to be there Saturday night. Just got the tickets in the mail yesterday (bought from the Hula Girls site). Was wondering if you will be the first to go on, or second? Or, of course, if you are headlining?

The way that it works with the Galaxy is that when we go on is contingent on how many tickets we sell in relation to the other opening band.... Sooo... .It could be 8:00 or it could be 9:00.

See you at the show!

TM

Woohoo!

Great show last night,
packed house.
fun hangin' with some of the TC peeps.

Jeff(btd)

Waiting to see some pictures come around. I'll post them when I get them from the different photogs that were there. other than the microphone shocking the living Jesus out of me every time I went to sing, I thought it was a great show.

Sorry that our set was so short, they were trying to do everything to get Lee Rocker on at a time before everyone started leaving...

Our next show is a FREE show at The Slidebar in Fullerton with the amazing SLACKTONE! Also with a cool band called Aloha Radio!

Great show!

And it WAS nice seeing the SoCal contingent there! Tiki Kitty and Trevor, the aforementioned Dr. Z (RUSH RULES!), BDT, Jungle Ginger, Jason, basically all the KOOL KIDZ! (Ha ha, JK!)

But seriously, we had quite a spectacle on stage! 7 people, all naked! Woohoo!

And kudos to Lucky Designs for surviving massive electric shock on stage. He was taken away by ambulance right after the show, but I am glad he is doing ok this morning!

Galaxy+ cool shows! (Not too crazy about drinking my brandy out of a paper cup, though! I guess they don't do snifters!)

Naked except for the strategically placed coconuts!

That was such a fun show! The Hula Girls were fantastic as usual, and we had our little contingent of TC represented.

Dr Z - sorry that you couldn't hook up with your favorite gal. She got a taste of tender young rockabilly meat and got greedy. Oh, and by the way, that was not Slim Jim Phantom.

Pictures are sloowly coming in... I swear Bong and Lucas were both there too!

As I was tellin' ya, I'm just the MATCHMAKER! The Sea Hag was lookin' to hook up with Doug, but since he wasn't there, we had to find someone else for her. I kept lookin' for Trevor, but he was layin' low...

(Awesome show, by the way!)

I could have sworn I posted on this thread last week, but my post is no where to be found? Hmmmm. Oh well, I probably accidentally posted in the "Show us your favorite tiki candle snuffer" thread instead. I'm always checking that one for the latest.

This was a rockin' show! With Lucas standing in on back-up percussion and vocals, and both dancers on stage, The Hula Girls formed an impressive presence. The crowd really seemed to love the band, as evidenced by all the cheers and applause at the end of the set. It's rare to see that kind of a reaction from an audience that's largely unfamiliar with a band. Smart crowd.

We were thankful to have Jason Wickedly and Dannelle offer us a seat at their table, and before long we had a nice size group of TC friends in our little corner of the place. What a motley crew we make up - haha! Good times, my friends!
