"Crews left an 11-foot tall section of the tree in the ground on the chance it could be developed into a temporary piece of public art. The Encinitas City Council decided Wednesday to allow the stump to be carved into an Easter Island head, commonly known as a tiki head." One of the really great aspects of this story is that the city council deemed a Moai public art! |

Another great aspect is that the writer deemed a Moai a Tiki. :) |

"an Easter Island head, commonly known as a tiki head" Would it really have hurt to actually have educated people and used the work 'moai' here? |
