How long do I need to dry out Mexican fan palm before carving?

I just got about 15 palm logs that just got cut yesterday sized from 3 to 5 feet and approx. 10 to 12inch thick. How long do I need to wait before trying to carve. Any info would help. Always wanted to start carving but had nothing to work with.

I've carved them the next day, and I've carved them after they sat for years. It's easier to carve when it's fresh, but there's a better chance it will crack and split.
I suggest start on one now, save the rest for later!

Thanks!

Nice score bro. That's a lot of fan palm.

I have a few that I cut that died last winter & stood, dead & drying, for a year. They're perfect!

Thanks for the info, I just found out that they are going to cut the rest of the 40
ft palms.
