Hey everybody! I was strolling through the TC forums soaking in all the awesome topics you all put up and wanted to give some love back. I really dig some of the work I've seen on here, and originally checked the site out for tips on bone carving, my specialty is Hei Matau style bone hooks. Long story short, awhile ago a friend of mine put together an awesome display piece for me to show my necklaces on, so I carved a tiki for him in thanks. I used standard cattle leg bone, and did my initial cut with a proxxon micro scroll saw, then finished off my shaping with a combination of rotary burrs, bits, a cutting wheel and hand files. The little golden details are antiqued gold seed beads set with jewelers resin. Last step was sanding and polishing and threw on a cord and it was done! Thought you all might get a kick out of it.
