OK, real-world twist on what do you take to a desert island: My family and I am moving to Abu Dhabi. They do have liquor stores there but their selection of rum and other tiki drink staples is a joke. I have four trips coming before the move. I can take 2 bottles of booze each trip. I will be there for two years. What would you bring??? I am thinking (1) LH 151 original, (1) LH 80, (1) Zaya for sippin, (1) Myers Dark, (1) Appletons Estate, (1) Casadores for my Jim Special, (1) Pernod and (1) Curacao I can get Bacardi and sometimes Cruzan there. What say you???? They do have a Trsder Vics but they don't have the capability of making a fine drink. L. Life's Too Short To Drink a Bad Mai-Tai. [ Edited by: I-Tiki 2011-08-23 17:54 ] |

I'd say make a list of your five favorite cocktails and then bring all the ingredients you can't get there. I have a friend who works in Abu Dhabi and other places in the Middle East a lot. Whenever he comes back home (San Diego) he marvels at how easy it is to get a drink. The good news is, you will have a Trader Vic's near you. Good luck!
