Greetings everyone. Let's do a little bollywood music:

S

S

vactions in bombay circa 67

http://youtu.be/J7lFQ2iOU4Y

S

the great celebration at the town market. this was recorded and filmed after we escaped the thugi cult.

http://youtu.be/x92K2mUeYZ0

S

probably the most popular and famous from the glory days of bollywood. this is a great late night funk number. just check helen work that carpet!

this muzak is actually from kollywood (which is mostly popular in parts of india, nepal and sri lanka)- but i put it in for the sake of keeping things a little more simple and trim.

anyhoo- the guy dancing in this appeared in a bunch of films, which i've recently discovered. he's a strange combination of comedian and action hero (not sure which western film comparison i can give here), but apart from the amazing dance moves he displays, check how he completely impresses all the swank bad guys and charms the ladies.

That one was especially groovy! Big fan of all bollywood here...I love the actresses (although usually it is really some fat old lady singing in a soundbooth) and damn it! Now I am hungry and must head to Pioneer Blvd. in Artesia for lunch!

And vaguely sticking to this theme, here's the Indian condom song:

hope you guys are enjoying the ride so far- here's one whose idea i'm really fond of. see how they seamlessly switch from fantasy to reality.

i wish all restaurants were like this- or at the very least, most!

S

here is another tamil addition to the list. this is probably what we'd consider more "folk" and i present it here just so you can marvel at the sets, costumes and makeup.

Haha, this is great. The young Crazy Al!

S

sorry about the delay folks. i was at the ice-skating rink downtown and got a little carried away. let's continue with our regular programming:

http://youtu.be/2REwdewLK5E

S

as easily as you saw us execute those moves above, it took a long time to perfect the routine. this is one of the many practice sessions we had:

S

this is what saturday nights are like for me.

http://youtu.be/KoqWOOtlIbM

S

and now a brief message on drinking, singing and dancing from helen and co.

don't try this at home folks. leave it to the professionals.

here is a good one. i almost forgot about it, but the chief reminded me.

http://youtu.be/93GA7nJ4FTc

S

here is my favorite bollywood number. helen singing in the rain.

http://youtu.be/Gdh1p7WkPyM

S

a brief tour of casa di socks. this is the back area where we hold all our parties. as usual, my girlfriend helen will serenade you with funky tunes

http://youtu.be/Mwb1FsvS4KE

S

this is the downstairs lounge area. as you can see, we've gone ahead and included the rotating bar theme in-doors as well. i think it has to do with how absolutely swank we are.

http://youtu.be/kT5qlVYQ9RM

S

okay, i'll show you guys the rest of the house later. going to the beach to do a little dancin'& romancin'

http://youtu.be/3Y-Bk_Pq-Ww

S

a couple of years ago, i read a book about bollywood fans in india. most were very poor and would spend a weeks wage on watching movies like this one below all weekend long.

http://youtu.be/MwVwZxhe_Wc

S

last night. at the club.

http://youtu.be/HK9ioXN9mXY

S

question: what did you do today?
answer: i kept it funky

http://youtu.be/7N4naSsQ5Dg

S

my ex girlfriend and i vacationing in colorado. for anyone that's curious: the opening lyrics are "ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh"

http://youtu.be/yTktbXFZP6o

S

i love the theatrics in this number. very reminiscent of early rodgers and hammerstein- except this one has been given the full acid trip effect. groovy!

http://youtu.be/ekDxyEIrvJA

S

last one for the week. i haven't seen this movie but judging from this opening title i think it's fair to assume it's a righteous picture.

http://youtu.be/FQd_JSFOZN8

S

question: are these the greatest dance moves in the world?
answer: yes. they are.

intro to the new socksoff movie

S

time to shake off the dusty cobwebs from this long forgotten thread and resurrect some malformed freak funk and dreadful discothèque pop from the subculture of bollywood's bloodthirsty horror film industry. and just in time for halloween too.

and what better way to begin than this b-film seance fiction synth funk ectoplasmic intro

https://youtu.be/Gk3_JvFEJU4

S

aa jane jaan is exactly one of those blood-soaked ballads with a hint of rigermortis rock and disjointed disco that's guaranteed to leaving you feeling fully re-exhumed. i mean, just check out the lycanthropic moves of she-devil helen and tell me she doesn't give you one of those jekell and hyde transformations that's typical of any bloodcurdling disco number

https://youtu.be/XMueQRVqFBE

S

here's a spooky background number that pulls no punches and plunges the ‘b’ of bombay into the heart of b-movie music and squirts a masala of bloody ketchup and red wine right onto the screen (and into your ears)

https://youtu.be/U-GKujuArrw

S

and here is the classic love song 'woh beete din yaad hain' from shapeshifting 'purana mandir'. it would be rather inhuman of me not to end on a high note, and this one is sure to leave you gut-wrenched and malformed: just like the hairy home listener that you are

https://youtu.be/8tsv6ey7Qak

"Jaan Pehechaan Ho" has been one of my favorites for many years
from the Bollywood film Gumnaam and later in Ghost World and Heineken commercials

https://youtu.be/FyEnG_DEB1I

S

nice one atomic tiki punk. that's most definitely one of my favorite bollywood jams right there.

anyone ready for some more bollywood horror? trying sinking your teeth into the weretiger slasher that is junoon: the story of vikram who is slashed by a tiger and begins to morph into a half tiger half man creature every full moon (sounds a little like that wolf myth but maybe that's just me reading too much into the story). here is the magically lycanthropic 'prem prem o meri dilruba' with vikram being devilishly handsome and on the hunt

S

here's one of those psychological horror films packed with more masala than your regular bloodthirsty horror film. in the words of bappi lahiri, "it's about to get real right now" (note: i have no proof he actually said those words)

this is one of those "brother, his two sisters and their mom goes to live with her grandmother and cousin in bombay, then returns home (years later) to chandanagar to live with her uncle and other cousin, only to find out her cousin is now possessed by an evil witch" movie with one twist: main sister is played by the 'stick a steak in my heart" sahila chaddha while possessed sister is the naturally possessing (?) jasmine. it's like hitchcock met up with kafka at an indian restaurant and ordered the spiciest dish on the menu then attempted to write a script together while seeing who could make it to the bathroom first- but with killer music to boot

https://youtu.be/XO4FILkDBZ8

S

last but not least, the intoxicating dance number 'Aise Waise Na Samajh Sajna' from jaani dushman- the film about a man who changes into a beast when his bride-to-be leaves him at the altar for another lover. the bloodbath that happens next is as serious as any produced in bollywood, but it's the choreography in this video that really left my guts sprayed all over the dance floor

https://youtu.be/uojoPakHoUs

S

https://youtu.be/ne0JRyouOCI

Ilaiyaraaja strikes again, and this time, with robotic funk.
