Its back again! The 2011 Rum Renaissance in Miami. April 25 to May 1.

This year it is moving not only up the beach, but back in time... to the Deauville.

"Deauville Beach Resort is one of the ‘Grande-Dame’ Hotels of Miami Beach, where legends were and still are being made. The Deauville, as it was then known, was the center of Miami Beach’s glamorous 60's lifestyle and a local Landmark. Celebrities like Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin and Sammy Davis Jr. romped while John, Paul, George and Ringo made history.

The exact schedule is still being worked on so if'n rum is your thing you should keep an eye on the website for updates.

I'm sure most of you saw the great post about the Zombie Jamborie at the Mai Kai to kick-off Rum Renaissance: http://www.tikicentral.com/viewtopic.php?topic=39635&forum=4&0

I also wanted to point any of you who are attending the Grand Tasting on April 30 and May 1, that we're looking for competitors for the Bamboo Bartender Competition, think Iron Chef of Rum based cocktails. If you'd like to enter, follow this link for more information: http://www.rumrenaissance.com/Competition.html

Also, if you haven't seen it, Rum Connection is giving away a few VIP passes. The deadline for entry is Friday: http://rumconnection.com/uncategorized/rum-renaissance-vip/

Hope to see you there!

The Rum Renaissance Caribean Cruise 2011

Experience a week of delicious cruising through the Eastern Caribbean islands, discovering the birthplaces of great rums, savoring the best rums of the region with rum seminars, tasting events, rum dinners, excursions to rum distilleries and visitor centers. Rum cruisers will meet rum experts from around the world, find great rum bargains on each island and meet fellow rum enthusiasts from many countries.

You'll have to click on the link because I'm not cutting and pasting the whole thing here (ya lazy bastards).

The 2012 Rum Renaissance web site is slowly coming together.

One of the improvements for 2012 is pulling the Island Lifestyle vendors into the same room as the Rum tasting. The vendors did Ok last year, but it as hard to get people out of the room full of rum. Now its going to be one big party with everyone together!

The website is being updated frequently so check back often. Start here for now:

April 16 through 22! Mark your calendars!

And tickets are on sale! $25 for one day passes, $45 for weekend passes. And if you can join for the entire week, VIP passes are only $250 and include all 9 VIP parties AND the weekend Grand Tasting.

Since Rum Renaissance is running concurrently with Hukilau, has there been any thought about coordination between the two events?

We'd have to ask Tiki Kiliki...... TK? Thoughts?

Hi guys!

We have spoken to RR several times about partnering in previous years and I know they are aware of our dates this year. Of course we are open to speaking with them about opportunities! They have a great festival and the more Rum the better!

Seems like it would be a bonus for everyone!

This might pique your interest.....

Still tickets available...

So you're saying there might be some rum available there?

I've heard that rumor too!

Lots and lots of fantastic rum. Like Chip said it will be even better since the vending and the rum will be in one room. The ticket price gets you into both and you can taste as many different rums as you want! Can't beat that! Mark your calanders for the Miami Rum Renaissance this April just like it was last April.

That was fun! Can we do it again tomorrow?

I wish I could have attended more days, but the last afternoon was a blast. Ian Burrell's seminar was informative, entertaining and overflowing with sample drinks.

Best event ever in April. I would not have been any place else. Can't wait for next year.
The other best event will be this June at Lake George, NY. It is Ohana at the Tiki Resort. The name is very fitting.

I know it's kind of far out on the calendar to be pushing this event but for those of you thinking of flying now is about the time Airlines are opening ticket sales for next April.

Miami Rum Renaissance (affectionately called 'Rum Week')

April 15 to 21, 2013

If you are planning on flying in, Miami International (MIA) is the closest airport. It is a $20 ~ $30 cab ride to Miami Beach.

You can probably get some good deals flying into Fort Lauderdale (FLL) on Southwest or Jet Blue. Cab Fare to Miami will be a lot so maybe with the savings on tickets you can rent a car. Having a car makes it considerably easier to swing by the Mai Kai.... just sayin.

Don't consider West Palm Beach (WPB) unless you are planning on renting a car because it is 60~ish miles to the north of Miami and is a good hour drive in the lightest of traffic, as much as two hours when traffic sucks.

Looking forward to seeing everyone in April!
