I know its not considered a tiki drink, but since we have Mardi Gras in less than 3 weeks I had a question. Has anyone ever tried to make a Pat O'Brien's Cyclone from scrathc. The Pat O'Brien's Hurricane made of rum and passion fruit is their most famous drink and their mix is available in power or liquid from at most liquor stores. However the Cyclone is a votca based drin. I am guessing it is mabe with orange J, lemon J and something else. They sell the cyclone powdered mix also but most liquor stores do not carry it.They serve it in a cool looking brandy glass with spout. Any ideas?

found this on something called Cooks.com:

PAT O'BRIEN'S CYCLONE

2 oz. Vodka
1 oz. lemon juice
1 oz. Jero's Gold Passion Fruit Cocktail mix
1 orange slice
1 maraschino cherry

Serve Vodka, lemon juice and cocktail mix in an 8 oz. Brandy sniffer with crushed ice. Garnish with orange slice and cherry.

I've never had the Cyclone myself so cant speak to the question from experience.

I've only had the Pat O's hurricanes and mint juleps.

Jero's website doesn't list Gold Passion Fruit Cocktail mix in their product listing at the moment.

Have to come up with yet another substitution. :(

From the looks of it, the Cyclone is simply the Hurricane made with vodka instead of rum.

fwiw, per the Pat O's website the Cyclone is:

"A windstorm of orange flavor that will whirl you off your feet..."
