Coco Joe's Brass Ashtray or Mold?

Pages: 1 3 replies

Hello all,
This is my first post.
I have found this heavy brass ashtray that looks like one of the lava ashtrays made by Coco Joe's of Hawaii.
It sits kind of wobbly as it does not have a very flat bottom.
When I saw photos of the lava ones, it occurred to me that mine may be part of a mold used to make them.
Did they make this ashtray in brass?

TIA, Dan

Welcome to TC!

The company that bought the Coco Joe name at the brankruptcy sale made these in, I believe the 90's...

Plaster was used to fill in the voids on the backs and bottom of the figurines...

Imprinted Aloha Hawaii...One piece is engraved on the back Peterson 93

Thanks for the info Freddie!
That is interesting about the plaster, but mine has no plaster or cavity.
There was a damaged small sticker on the bottom that looked like it may have said Japan.

The larger pieces like ashtrays were probably cast as thin as possible to keep cost and weight down... on the figurines, the glue residue can be seen where the felt is missing above...
