LP to mp3 (or CD) conversion services

Pages: 1 2 replies

I

Many of us have great old LPs that we'd like to listen to on mp3 or CD. I know lots of people do it themselves with Audacity, but I've given up on that. There are several commercial conversion services out there, and I'm wondering if anyone has had experiences with them, good or bad. I had a miserable experience with Reclaim Media in Seattle -- shipped them 10 LPs, they kept them for 3 weeks, and the mp3's sounded like shit. I'm thinking of giving this outfit (http://www.vinyltocd.us/) a try. Can anyone else provide recommendations on services that do a competent job for a reasonable price? Thanks!

I do not know of any quality services. The "outfit" you are considering is $12 per LP to CD! I'd sooner buy a $200-$500 USB turntable for that money.
I picked up an ION usb turntable at CostCo for $60. Suits me just fine. I kinda like the snap,s, crackles and pops.
I have recorded LPs that are mint and can't even tell that it is an LP on my iPhone.

Then there is shipping and insurance. Who do you want handling a $200 lp?
