$14 per 750ml bottle, and going very fast. (No sales tax or other additional "Washington thanks Costco" taxes here.) Sign in liquor store said "closeout"...but don't know why. http://www.OregonLiquorSearch.com can help you find what's left. |

Why can't we have a "California Liquor Search"? |

Good idea -- that would be very nice to have for every state. I am still amazed how, in this computer interweb age, that liquor stores don't cater better to their customers who look for specific products in their inventories. Car dealers do it for their cars. Junk yards do it for their parts. So why not liquor stores for their liquors? Then it would also be nice to know, quickly and easily, to what states or countries they can (or cannot) ship products. Anyone? Anyone? Bueller? |

The simple answer is that Oregon is a control state, so there's a central authority that knows what the stores have. California is a whole different animal, so it wouldn't be practical. But some individual liquor stores in California, if they're large, enough to have websites that will tell you what they've got. On the other hand, Virginia is a control state, and there is a database that tells them what each stores has -- yet they choose not to give customers access to it. That strikes me as especially dumb. |
