Greetings all..when I was around 9 or 10 and in the Boy Scouts, I had a project of carving a neckerchief slide for a merit badge. The one I chose was of a Tiki. I made it out of palm frond wood. ( I grew up in Daytona Beach) Ever since then I have been hooked. Recently, that desire has returned and I have carved one door Tiki, and three necklaces. I am now halfway finished with a four foot Tiki carved from a piece of old driftwood cypress. And yes, it is hard to work with, yet I want to learn how to work with wood. I have been using a mallet and three chisel points, sand paper and a dremmel tool to smooth out the rough points. My style is more the long nose Easter Island Tiki, simple enough to get me started and to learn how. I have been watching Tiki Central and love what everybody does...

I am sure that I will learn much from all of you and I look forward to that.

Thank you.
