New Years Eve drinks?

Pages: 1 5 replies

Were there ever any special drinks for New Year's Eve at any of the classic tiki bars? Does anyone have any tiki-related traditions they'd like to share?

I'm going to make a little diddy that I had at TraderPup's gig I went to - Trader Vic's Grog.

My ohana's tradition on New Years is bowling!

(what can I say, my keike's love it, and I them)

I'm making Pulled Pork BBQ w/ Black Eyed Peas.
Oh yeah, and Mai-Tai's!
Aloha,
:tiki:

Happy New Year to everyone!

I thought this thread might deserve a resurrection, so what is your favorite New Year's tiki drink (alcoholic or non-)?

I'll probably go with a 151 Swizzle. Anyone else?

I'm experimenting with a Spiced Ginger Syrup, so I'm looking forward to a recipe with sparkling wine.

Having 12 different fruits for New Year's is a Filipino tradition, so a few years ago I created a punch around that idea:

12 Lucky Fruits Bowl

  • 4 oz Filipino Gold Rum
  • 2 oz Dark Jamaican Rum
  • 2 oz Brandy (1)
  • 1/2 oz Triple Sec (2)
  • 1/2 oz Apricot Brandy (3)
  • 1 oz Lime Juice (4)
  • 1 oz Lemon Juice (5)
  • 3 oz Pineapple Juice (6)
  • 1 oz Cranberry Juice (7)
  • 1 oz Calamansi Juice (8)
  • 2 oz Passion Fruit Syrup (9)
  • 1 oz Grenadine (10)
  • 1 oz Honey Syrup
  • 4 dashes Grapefruit Bitters (11)
  • 4 oz Club Soda
  • Maraschino Cherries (garnish) (12)

Dry blend all except garnish. Pour into a volcano bowl full of ice. Add garnish and ignite reservoir filled with overproof rum.
