Has anyone here ever carved a guiro? It's a percussion instrument also known as the "ribbed fish." One with a tiki theme would be neat. Is koa too hard to work with? Latin style guiro: [ Edited by: Tele295 2013-03-24 18:24 ] |

CrazyAl gave me the the inspiration several years ago when he grabbed one of my carvings and took it on stage as a percussion instrument. So I have played with the idea but never finished. I call them Flute Boards - carved and grooved to use an instrument with different tones and percussion techniques. Unfortunately I have no musical talent - fortunately other people's situations have recently changed and the inspiration has returned. I've got some nice pieces of Mahogany and have already thought about creating a slit drum with similar grooving. We'll see how it goes... |
