Neo-Exotica

Pages: 1 19 replies

I've been searching out the vast reaches of the internet for modern exotica and while I've found some I'm hoping everyone out there knows more.

I've found the big names (Don Tiki, Tikiyaki Orchestra, Mr. Ho's Orchestrotica, Kava Kon, Ixtahuele) and I enjoy all that they do. I'm hoping to find the guys stuck underneath these large names.

Any help would be great.

Check out Lagoon! by Clouseaux. Kinda quirky but I dig it.

Waitiki! And their other incarnation, Waiitiki 7.

Try this on for size. One of my many side projects!

Hi Paralyzed Poly!

I'm really happy you like my band, Ìxtahuele. Thanks for your kind words!

One of my favorite band today is The Stolen Idols. I've never got the chance to see them perform live but I think the YouTube clips are amazing. I will definitely do my best to see one of their shows in the future! But anyway, if you haven't heard them yet I think you should check them out!!

Aloha!! / Mattias

Id check out the american diary album by vibist mike mainieri. Nice blend of sounds and an influence on our Orchestrotica quartet,
although it is far from most, if not all the artists listed here (i am sure some would say this isnt exotica but for me,
This is a loose term not requiring a lounge approach or "retro"ness.) The discussion of what exotica is is a long pointless debate with no right/wrong so ill just toss the album in as an idea and skip the debate :)

Looking forward to gigging together one day soon!

Incidentally, the Stolen Idols album is essentially finished and should be available in the coming months.

Gonna be a double album box set or what Drew? And I thought our new record was taking a long time! :) I hope we get to jam soon as well!

Great news. Stolen Idols will for sure be on my list
Looking forward to upcoming Mr. Ho's and Clouseaux releases as well.

There are numerous artists tagged with "exotica" on bandcamp.
might be some pearls to find there.

Check out Eliott Easton's Tiki Gods, "Easton Island" a new album from Eliott Easton of The Cars. It's awesome and very tiki.
