Martin Denny import mini-lp cds

I'm sure many of you are already aware of this reissue series, but a few of them seem to have sneaked back into print...

They're available here...

The Japanese have raised the LP replica to a fine art, and these are true to the original sleeves of the glory days. Buy 'em out and show them there's a market for more re-releases.

Also currently available are a couple George Shearing mini-lp cds as well.

Ive never seen much love for George Shearing here, but his stuff is absolutely fantastic...I have most of his albums, but the things he did as the George Shearing quintet are some of the best....so loungy and relaxed! Even people who normally hate Jazz might like his stuff. Take out the birdcalls and there really was not that much a difference stylistically with George Shearing compared to Martin Denny or Arthur Lyman....heavy use of vibes and cocktail piano, baby!

With time, there's always opportunity for expanding horizons...besides, how much more surf music does the world really need?

Since almost every new "exotica" or "tiki" band these days seems to actually be surf music instead, I would say that according to tiki central....a LOT!
