Any ideas on an outdoor shade?

Pages: 1 1 replies

Aloha
I want to make a sunshade for the west facing side of my covered patio. I would like it to be decorated with some kick ass tikis and tropical stuff. Maybe have 2 panels, one for the tiki shade and one for the actual sun blocker.
All ideas are welcome!

There's got to be a hundred ways to approach this.

It sounds like you're looking for a screen type stucture using mostly fabric?

You could start by looking at the postings of vintage Tiki Restaurant postcards here on Tiki Central and printing or sketching any ideas that you'd like to incorporate into your project.

Most Home Shows and Flower, Lawn & Garden shows have any number of Deck/Arbor builders and Landscape Designers with exhibits. You could attend one of these shows. Study the project photos at these exhibits and book appointments with a few whose work shows the kind of originality you're looking for.

An experienced and creative designer will be able to look at your site, look at the pictures of the stuff you like and come up with a good design for you. You can either just pay them for the design and building plans and build it yourself, or have them build it for you too.
