Primo Kimo's "Kahiki Moon" Room! Pics!

Pages: 1 19 replies

Aloha:

Opened for your (so far unrequited) pleasure November 22, 2003.

People Served:
TC Members = 0
Tiki Sympathizers = 12
Souless Bastards = 178

Here are some pics of my home bar. The main two rooms are not yet finished so I left those pics out. This is also the current resting place of those great stools Ken (Keigs) made for me=)

I solicited suggestions for names on this post:

After careful consideration and after a great suggestion , "Moonbase RongoRongo", from Johnny Dollar I decided on the Kahiki Moon Room for several reasons. Firstly, it is an homage to the supreme inland tiki mecca, the Kahiki. Also, I fell in love with the Hala Kahiki and used a lot of their ideas including cheesey black lighting and the wall matting. Following the space/moon theme is the 15 or so arcade video games that will be hidden from view with a couple of partitions that have yet to be finished. A lot of work ahead...

FUN FACT
Kahiki = Tahiti in Hawaiian

Tahiti is nice (I've never been but I remember black sand beaches in "Endless Summer")

Perry Ferrel's Porno for Pyros sang a song about the "Tahitian Moon".

I have some shelving also carved by Ken.

The other tikis are original Witco.

Dragon's Lair
Joust
Battlezone

I love it -
just one suggestion:

Have me over for drinks.

Yeah! What Pablus said!

Looks fantastic. I see my old friend Tempest peeking out next to the juke box. Looks like heaven on earth in there.

The Foggy Grotto has a poor but space effective substitute in the form of an x-arcade controller and MAME.

Looks like a fun place, Primo! I especially love the bamboo lamps. Where did you get those, did you make them yourself?

Primo,

That is one home bar that really looks like a tiki bar, and not something stuffed in the corner of a vacant room. Way to go!

The bamboo lamps are a nice touch. Wonderful place!

Mahalo for the kind remarks. The Kahiki Moon Room is open anytime (try for 24 hour notice) for any one of you. Next time you're in Vermont please stop by=)

The bamboo lamps are really nice. The maker informed me that these are smaller but acurate copies of a lamp seen in Tiki Room at Disneyland. There is a bit of an issue with them, however. All three of them split from top to bottom. I informed the maker and he is working with me on a solution. He is definately standing behind his product, but I hesitate to recommend them today until he/we can find a solution. I will keep you informed. Here is the link for now:

Yo Primo... I remember the good (not really)'ol days when I used to sleep(crash, bend) in that basement and Tiki was just a dream.Keep a spot open, those pics make KC wanna saddle up and come back for a little "va-ca".

Yoodle Primo: Turn on that stupid cell so I can call you!! You passed out in the moon room from too many "blues"? Your are the only guy I know who does'nt dream, and if you do dream the only place you can dream is in the Kahiki Moon Room, and the only dream you ever have is about the Kahiki Moon Room!!! I like you man, you're crazy but I like you.
