Any luck growing dwarf lime and/or lemon trees in NorCal?

Pages: 1 1 replies

For the first time in my life, I have my own outdoor space at my residence and have room to grow things. Since it's a rental, I will do all my planting in pots. I'd like to have my own limes and lemons and am considering getting potted dwarf trees. Has anyone up here in Northern California had luck with these in a space that only gets full sun for a couple hours per day? I don't have room to bring them in on our very few freezing nights, so what will I need to do to protect them?

Any advice/info is greatly appreciated.

Mahalo!

Check your local home depot or garden center, they will only sell plants that can actually grow in your region.

Theoretically, any citrus can grow in places like Minnesota, but they have to bring them inside in winter.

They grow citrus up there, so limes will probably grow. You also will want to check where you're buying from if you are going to go the online route since transport of citrus in state is heavily monitored and shipments coming from out of state are banned.
