Ok folks, here's my first attempt at a tiki mug for my home bar.

Shown along with a Kowloon Pineapple for scale.

The Marquesan Offering Bowl....

Excellent!

Nice looking stuff Pikey. I really like the Brain Drain concept and the offering will look great with some glaze on it.

Thanks for the feedback.

The 'Offering' has yet to be underglazed - the colours present are coloured slip that was put on the bowl prior to biscuit firing.

I've already painted the tiki with a chocolate brown underglaze.

The Moai has been underglazed in Juniper Green and Chocolate Brown to create a mottled "mossy" effect.
The interior of the bowl underglazed in Rapid Red (running over the sides) to create a Volcano effect (the sides are black). I've still got to add some more Brown to the Moai, and some Orange to the 'Lava'

Moai Brain Drain.

Colours added and ready for a clear coat of glaze and firing:

A quick pin dish / ash tray:

From one dog to another: lookin' good! "The Offering" would make a good mini-fountain with a little plumbing and a pump.

Thanks for the feedback guys, much appreciated as it's your work that has encouraged me to get off my backside and give it a go...

Here's my updated projects.

Moai Brain Drain:

The Offering:

The Moku Hei Hei Mug:

Nice glaze work. There's something magic about putting a piece in the kiln with a dry matte glaze on it and having it come out all smooth and shiny and warm - I never get tired of that :D

I like the scroll and raised letters on the Moku Hei Hei Mug

latest project is a votive candle holder... stands approx 9 inches high.

Here's the finished article...

And a couple of 'bucket' mugs...

Sneaky peak at a current project...

A couple more completed mugs...

A further sneaky peak...

I really enjoyed your thread. I'm just about to learn underglazing so I really like seeing the before and after shots. Thank you, Wendy

Way to go! I still haven't been able to pull off mugmaking, and am always impressed by those with the skills and talent to do so.

Awesome!

Shrunken Slurpie - put a straw through his topknot and Slurp away...

Very Cool Shrunken slurpie! I really like the red glaze you used in the bowl.. great work.

It's not just mugs these days...
