Y'know, it's possible that I have NEVER started a thread in this section. A couple of nights ago, I got a wild hair and thought I'd take a stab at carving. I've carved pumpkins, but that's it. A couple hours here, a couple hours there, and here I am with my very own little tiki. It took me about four hours total, I think? It's mahogany, and I'm just using a Dremel. Still needs stain and all that. I'm already looking forward to doing more. |

Excellent work there Humuhumu, be careful, that tiki will bite you and the next thing you know you will be going out to buy a chainsaw! Good luck on the next one. |

Very cool! I'm beginning to think there's no tiki endeavor you won't master. |

Thanks for all the kind words, guys! I've already picked out my next two designs. This fella should get stained tomorrow, if all goes according to plan. |

Did my second carve tonight after Wanda went to bed, this is a small trim piece that will accompany the tiki in a larger project. I've only done a first pass of sanding, I'll probably do just a little more cleanup on it and final sanding & stain tomorrow. |

Here's what these pieces were carved for: a new drink menu for my home tiki bar! I just posted a bunch of photos and details in Other Crafts, here's the thread:

Humu, When I saw your drink menu holder I didn't realize you had done the carving. Very nice! |
