Is this chair swank or skank?

Pages: 1 14 replies

J

I used these chairs in my office for several years. They are great quality hardwood and construction, made by the Boling Chair Co. of Siler North Carolina, now defunct I think.

I am going to sell them on eBay. If someone on TC is interested I will sell them here.

Danish?

That chair has a nice shape. The color is a little bland and the fabric has to go.
Aloha,
:tiki:

In my opinion which really doesn't count. I'm going with skank. There is something to it though. I just think it's a little over the skank line.
Ah, whatever.

That reminds me of the chairs in the public library I went to when I was a lad. Orange cushion and all.
I think it's more on the swank side, but not by much.

they look like bad conference room furniture from the 1980s with a hint of styling from earlier more swanky years. but on my scale they would lean towards skank.

Dude,

Put them on anyway as some folks will buy anything on eBay:

Reminds me of danish modern style library or school furniture. Doesn't look comfy to sit in.

skank. unless it came from That 70's Show.

It's OK, but more skank than swank at this point. Right now you have to be pretty hoity toity with your 50's modern to get some cash for it. Name brands only! However give it another 20 years...

I would paint the chairs black and cover the cushions with leopard fabric to enhance the swank potential.

A

What motel did you steal that from?
I hope you got complimentary coffee with that Danish...

Very low on the swank rank, I'm afraid, but I've probably dumpster dived for worse than that.
Okohole Maluna!
Shell in the Pacific

Swank! The shape is pretty. Yet, I agree that the fabric is quite done-for, mainly because of the color. Orange should be only on fruit! If you reupholstered them in some tiki barkcloth, perhaps you could keep it for your own. Should you decide to hold off on eBay, check out the fabric selection at ReprotDepot.com. They're a great source for Hawaiian print fabric.
