LA Times article (Friday): Use of Styrofoam Statues Offends Easter Islanders

Well, I had sent my little statement to the staff writer of the article, who then answered he would have liked to have included it but would not cover the subject any further, and I should send it to the readers letters dept, which I did.
I have to confess though that I did not check every L.A. Times after that to see if it was printed...

One shirt is supposed to be an ad for a Chinese laundry, replete with coolie characatures. The slogan reads, "Two Wongs Can Make It White". Another shirt has a cooliesque figure on it and bowling pins, I think. It is supposed to be an ad for a bowling alley. The slogan says something like, "Wok And Bowl.

I heard on KFI radio the other day that the shirts are going for a lot of money on ebay.

On Saturday, the California section of the LA Times again had a photograph of these Moais.

Even behind a fence, they are extremely impressive.
