I bought a house a few years ago, knocked a wall out in back, and converted a 3 bedroom house into a one bedroom with two living spaces. There are multiple shag paintings, the Tiki Farm bar and shelf that's in the cool MCM bark cloth not made anymore, Shag/Paul Frank barstools, something like 500 mugs including 6 Munktiki Skulls, practically all the Shag mugs, tiki furniture, lamps, bowls, etc. There are bowls and mugs in shelves in my kitchen and living room, too. I don't really get into imbibing as much as I used to and although I appreciate it, it feels like I'm sitting on a major investment that I could put to better use, so I'm considering everything sold for 35k. Records and non tiki things not included.

Was going to say something like that myself.

But if it is Thirty five thousand dollars don't you think you need much
better pictures and like 10 times as many pictures.

Thirty five thousand dollars that is the price of a car.

I'll sell all mine for that and even give ya this guy.

good luck though.

25k is more realistic based on the value of the mugs, then consider the bar and shelf have the MCM bark cloth pattern that's in high demand and is no longer made, 20 Shag mugs including the Wahuku and Mondo mugs, at least 10 Boskos, A San Francisco and Lake Ponchetrain Bob, seven Munktiki skulls, four Fugus, Radar Vic, event mugs, four Suffering Bastards, one Shag decanter set with mugs, three Shag bowls each with four mugs, the Squid Skull bowl, both Steve Crane mugs, a Tiki Farm Bamboo Ben, two Shag event mugs, a Bahooka mug designed by Kirsten, mugs from Pop Tiki, Roberts, Cheeky Tiki England, GoTiki, OnaTiki, three Gecko float mugs, a Diablo warrior, and that's just off the top of my head out of 500 mugs.

There's also a Marquesan table statue, three different tiki table lamps plus the overhead lamp, the furniture, the bamboo shelving, the Shag/Paul Frank bar stools, who knows how many swizzle sticks, practically every Tiki Farm mug made in the past five years, The Purple Shag hanging lamp, etc.

You just made my point as there is no way for people to know that.
For that kind of money an itemized list with the conditions of all items
and lots of photos is the only way you could sell those for anything
even close to Thirty five thousand dollars.

You can't see all the items in those two small photos.
I hope you get it because I have that much and more,
have watched many of the items I bought go for not much at times.

And that's original old Kahiki tiki too.

I haven't fully decided to go through with it yet. If I do, I'll post EVERYTHING. I just thought I'd throw it out there to get some opinions. I'm thinking this would be ideal if someone wanted to open a bar.

Is packing and shipping included in that price?

P

That would involve the cost of a moving truck plus paying people to professionally pack and insurance. My thoughts are that a buyer is likely to save money by flying out and doing it themselves, plus they have the reassurance of packing the mugs in the way they see fit. With so many valuable items that would break easily, I'd think the buyer would want to control the moving and shipping and oversee it so it's done according to their wishes.

To add some context to the asking price
if you sold 500 mugs at $50.00 each (rounding out and averaging the prices of the total bulk sale) that adds up to $25,000.00
just for the mugs, but....the Shag, rare & limited mugs are worth over a hundred or two each, the majority of the mugs
are more likely worth $10 to $25 each, so if you sold all the mugs individually the overall profit would be substantially lower.

The accepted school of thought here is if you buy something in bulk you normally get it at a considerable discount
your asking price does not show this "economically speaking" i.e. not a good deal, not to mention the difference of $10,000.00
for the Bar (which is new and only worth around $300 if in like new condition) the stools, pictures & Tikis you mentioned
don't add up to that price, either.

So of course you can ask any price you like and as eBay has shown some people will pay it
but that still doesn't mean it is actually worth that price.

I think you will have to actually have a certain value in mind for what you are willing to get for it
and let the bulk of the more common things go for less, to make this sale.

Best of luck, but a bitter reality here is, the worth of something
is always lower when you actually sell it.

It's hard to get an idea now what sells high in the tiki world.
Those Shag Mondo mugs don't sell that high, I like and have them, got them at the event.

But the times I do watch ebay I am blown away by what does sell for big bucks and what sells low.
All I can do is guess that it is newbies buying what they think is hot.
But when old Hoffman pottery mugs from the Kahiki sell for less than newer kahiki mugs I don't
know it's like Jerry Seinfeld's Bizarro Jerry world time.
That's cool buy what you like, but the tides have really changed in the tiki world.

Now if you said the SHIPPING would be Thirty Five Thousand and half of the stuff would
come to you broken I would believe that.

You'd probably get a pretty good price just for the bar by listing it on eBay as "Mad Men Tiki Bar - Just like the one in Lou Avery's office"

Put it all on ebay. Start it off at a dollar, no reserve. The entire world gets to see it and has a chance to bid on it. Lets see what it's all worth.
