here's a project i did last year for my mail getter at the office - an old 40's goodyear girl's bike and turned it into a cool little cruiser. she had been "customized" in the 70s sometime, there were some parts i liked and wanted to keep (banana seat, sissy bar, mini apes) but the rest i wanted a even more custom look - this is a pretty photo heavy post

found her for 10 bucks at the stray kat 500 in dewey, ok

tear down and inventory

stripping the frame

stripped down, ready to rust

5 minutes after spraying my rust promoter secret concotion

rusted, baked on with map gas torch (before clear coat)

rust detail

custom tiki headbadge i had guy on rat rod bikes forum make for me

custom chain ring i designed and waterjet cut

some shorty fenders i came across from a kid's stingray bike

powdercoated with white wrinkle and satin clear coat on rust - starting re-assembly

detail shot of chain ring and patina

tore down, powdercoated and designed seat for my buddy that does leather work

a few coats of stain

sealed and finished

custom grips - tooled leather - one says Tiki other say Bar

finished and sitting pretty

the end!

That is SO cool. I pray my missus doesn't see this...

Nice job. I like the seat and the color combo.

Love it, nice job resurrecting this bike.

This is so impressive. You should show a bike company your work. Wendy

The rust and leather really go well together!

Nice! You got all the connections - water jet, leather tooling, powder coating... SWEEET!

S

i do have good connections -from doing hotrods and signs so long - waterjet is mine, and i did the grips with supervision, but just didnt feel i was up to snuff on the seat itself

Love it!
