The Malibu Inn was owned by a man named Les Thuet. It was built in 1961 and expanded in 1966. The Pineapple House restaurant did not open until 1973. I don't know what ultimately happened to the Inn. Les Thuet and his brother Howard also operated at least one boat ferrying visitors between Avalon and Long Beach. I'm sure much more can be learned about this place by people with more time and skill. The Catalina Island Museum and their collections might be a possible resource.
