So YOU'RE the one who bought those! The dealer found them in the bottom of a box-lot at the auction. I've been going to that auction for years and haven't found squat; she goes and scores!

This has always been one of my favorite threads.
Digging through a large box of amateur photos and found this B&W shot from 1979.
Not a great angle, only one Moai visible but it still belongs here I guess.

8ft, Nice photo. Rarely seen frontal shot of the Moai under the sign. How about a blow-up.

To bad he had em held in place by putting concrete all around it.....

Very cool photos, amazing to see those Aku Aku Tikis in the wild! Here is a photo of one of them outside the Aku Aku entrance.

Also shown in the photos posted by Bamboo Ben.

It looks like they had about 1/3 of the Tiki planted in concrete which is a shame.

He made 7 total. ( I think it was a Vegas thing. ie; 7 ) Small to tall!

Here is a story on Eli carving the Tikis for the Aku Aku (among others).

I didn't know that Eli carved the Tikis for the Outrigger in New Orleans.

I found this plan of the existing layout from 1963. It was included in a 1964 proposal to add an addition to the Stardust.

January 21, 1961. Of course Ren Clark opened the Polynesian Village in Fort Worth in 1960 and had an extensive home Tiki bar.
