This is slightly tiki-related, since Harper Goff was instrumental in the design of Disneyland’s Adventureland and the Jungle Cruise attraction (among other things). I ran across this story about a new mural honoring Goff in his hometown of Fort Collins, Colorado: Next time I’m down there, I’ll stop by Old Town to check it out. |

I was in Old Town Fort Collins this afternoon and stopped to see the Harper Goff mural at 200 North Pine Street. There are lots of little vignettes that make up the larger portrait. For example, the lower left section recognizes Goff's (and others') involvement in the great Dixieland jazz band, Firehouse Five Plus Two: I was looking for the Nautilus from 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, but didn't find it. Around the chin/neck section, there's something about the Jungle Cruise (sorry I didn't get any more pics; it was cold and snowy....) |
