I stumbled across this dinner plate on Ebay from a restaurant called Tex Cook's Kai-Kai. The logo depicts a longhorn-steer head, but what makes me think it might have been a Polynesian restaurant is the tapa design and the name "Kai-Kai". I know it's a long shot, but has anyone ever heard of this place? Sabu http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2619801527&category=7293

Is it just me or does the left stripe look like a tiki? I see 2 eyes, a mouth, and some legs.... cool! |

Thanks again Bigbro! I'll have to re-check my BOT when I get home. I think I need another trip to visit the high-lamas of tiki at Oceanic Arts. I'd like to hear a story or two about the Kai-Kai and maybe they can shed some light on that Mexican Tiki record I found over the weekend. If you'd like to go for this plate, Bigbro, I'll bid on the next one that comes up. I've spent enough for a few weeks anyway. It just piqued my curiosity. Yeah...no, I'm still too much in the hole, even after the video sale. Somebody from the family get it. |
