Shameless plug: Channel Surfing With...The Astroglides - update - see last message

Pages: 1 11 replies

Aloha and Happy New Year everybody,
I'd like to shamelessly plug our 3rd album, which has been getting great
reviews recently. The album is entirely instrumental, contains 19 tracks
that combine traditional surf music with other influences such as spy movie
themes, spaghetti western music, exotica, and more. The concept of the
album is based around nostalgic TV music, and includes some covers of
obscure tunes from Israeli television.
For those of you remembering our previous albums, let me tell you that this
one is very different in that it's much more melodic, and a lot less Metal
influenced.
In the continental U.S., the album costs only $12 including shipping, when
ordered directly from me.
e-mail me off list at for details.
If you want to sample some of the tunes, checkout our website
http://www.astroglides.com/songs.html for some full length MP3 downloads.

We were honored to receive some great responses, including Mr. Phil Dirt's
wonderful 5 star review:

"This is an incredible project. Even with forewarning about the blend of
instruments and sounds, I was not prepared for the scope of the creativity
nor the magnitude of the resulting release. This is a spectacularly creative
and enjoyable release, blending surf and punk and metal and lounge and
exotica and spy themes, and detective tales and... You must hear this CD,
but you also must have your adventure hat on and your attitude belt off.
It's a daring side trip into uncharted surf territory. Brilliant!"

And in addition to all those published reviews, I'd just like to add that this cd is not only a great listen, it'll also bring bidders to your leilani mugs on ebay, guide you to the flea market stall with the severed head mug tagged at 39 cents, tell the secret recipe of the Ray's Mistake, reveal that Witco piece below your great aunt's rumpus room, and, when played backward, reveals Jimmy Buffet's home phone number. Now ain't that worth $12?!?! Yup!

But seriously, a fine musical selection indeed!

Ran, congrats on the good reviews! :drink:

Thanks Klas :)
And Judd, please, I'm blushing...

Hi again,
Under the new TC guidelines, I'm bringing this post up from the past, and not opening a new one.
just wanted to share our excitement as yet another excellent review to our albumwas
published, this time in "Splendid" web-zine. Splendid is considered one of the best
alternative music web-zines.

http://www.splendidezine.com/review.html?reviewid=1077016135210316

The review is great, although he mentions "The Adventures of Rabbi Jacob" as
a mock film score, whereas actually it's a real film score (as our liner
notes state). The imagery he came up with are very funny , though.

If you want to get your copy, Double Crown has a few copies http://www.dblcrown.com, and coming
up soon, Dave Wood will carry them at http://www.zptdudamusic.com.
I also have a few copies for sale, so contact me for details (at
[email protected] ) , especially if you're in California.

Mahalo,

Ran

I gotta chime in on this CD. I picked up my copy at the Tiki Valentines party at Purple Orchid and I absolutely love it! If you like surf, spy, etc.. then you'll love this CD.

Ran,
The Mad Adventures of Rabbi Jacob is a GREAT movie! I'm stunned to see someone mention it here.

BTW, I'd like to buy a copy of your cd when I see you down in SoCal sometime. I'll get ahold of you.

About 2 weeks after I got my copy, I played it for some friends who were over for dinner. Everyone commented on how much they liked it. The next morning...it had vanished! I have my suspicions who the culprit might be. Sad to say I am now Astroguideless :(

Kick, are the other members of the band living here in the US or are they in Israel? Will we ever be able to see the Astroglides perform live in So Cal?

Thanks for the kind words Poly-pop.

Aquarj - sure thing, thanks a lot.

DawnTiki...I'm sorry to hear about it, I hope it's gonna turn up soon (these people were your friends, after all!), but if not contact me and I'll see what we can do.

Vintage Girl - unfortunately I'm tne only one that moved here...However, there is a plan for a CA tour in the summer, but it really depends on whether each band member can come up with at least a $1000 for the plane tickets.
I'll be really happy if it works out, and I'll definitely post here if it happens, as I'd love to perform to my fellow Tiki Centralites. Also we'll need all the help we could get regarding crowd size, since So-Cal is notorious for low crowd turn-out in surf gigs.

Thanks again everyone,

Ran
