Flame Effect LED bulbs?

Pages: 1 8 replies

These flame effect LED bulbs seem to be everywhere. I'm wondering if they are all created equally or if there is a particular one that makes a better effect?

I have some solar ones that are VERY realistic. The 110 volts screw in bulbs I got from Amazon and Home Depot are cool but not as realistic, I've heard that an additional diffuser makes them look better. Also, some of the screw in bulbs are made to operate base down and some will work either way.

Yeah if you see the bulb on the screw in type its not good.

How about the ones with a fan that has silk for the flame those look good if they will work in your application.

The one I bought looks better than this one.

Hey this might work for your volcano.

All of the flame effect bulbs are really not meant to be seen- definitely work better behind a diffuser of some sort.

So far the best one I've found is the newer Feit Electronics one- in the BLACK box, not the older white box version.
I've tried a few of the others and they are either very fake in their flickering, or just don't last very long.

That said, I haven't tried any of the crazy-expensive ones you can order online.

Love ours

Actually the application I'm looking for is to replace a fan/silk flame. The darn squirrels stole my silk flame in my tiki lantern. So thought I'd consider removing the fan and going with one of the flame bulbs. The other downside of the fan is the noise...not terrible but noticeable.

You can buy silk and make a new flame as well, I had to do this myself.

Good luck!

I bought some and tried it but can't seem to get it to wave around like the old one. Maybe the material is too heavy (tried to by the flimsy stuff).

Also thought about buying a cheap torch that also uses the silk flame and steeling the flame for the tiki...but didn't do it yet.

Maybe it was that acetate stuff.
I know it was fabric, get the lightweight stuff.
