I really love your tikis. The way you stain them really enhances detailed work, too.

Cannibal Tiki - a fat 43" 100lb solid fir

New carve. This one is another 4ft.fir w/3D headdress

Awesome
Nothing quite like a 100lb cannibal
:)

Cheers

GT, gone through your whole thread........again!
Absolutely awesome work man! Might have to look you up in the big W State when we get down there. Are you a hit with your neighbors or what?!
Your sculpts and details really make your work stand out. Great eye man. Love the Ku's and the Cannibal is great!

Mahalo man!
TabooDan

Good eye is right.
Wish I had trees like that around here.
Keeps you out of trouble Hu?

I concur; your cannibal is just great.

T

Nice work man. Bravo!

I am continually amazed by the quality of these sculpts. Outstanding!

Thanks for all the positive "Tiki" comments - Hope to see everyone at "Tiki Kon" ---The earliest wood sculptures labeled "Pele" were absolutely amazeballs. I'm hoping to capture some of that energy, like a relic that hasn't been found yet. Latest project "Pele"

That headdress is something else.

That piece has a lot of detail!

Good job.
I feel the anguish.

Holy cow! That is amazing!

That is killer!

Stunning
Job well done sir

Thank you all for the kind inspiration. The more I carve the more I learn about the ancient Tiki creators. I don't carve bears, I don't cartoon, I don't incorporate Star wars or Pop culture. Tiki is as old as a sharpened stone. Heres my latest----

Wow,
a lot of detail there.
Detail takes time.
Time is money.
How many hours in those 2 pieces you think?

Great work sir

Always quality work Jim!

T

Nice work man! I saw where the Pele ended up! It's gonna look killer when they get opened!

Your carving is absolutely spectacular

GT

Okay I'm starting to figure this out...
Most any 6 footer takes 75 to 100 hours

Another great carving Jim, really like the way you wrapped the headdress into the base!

GT

Thanks for noticing that headress on Kane!
Here's my Lamp project that turned out to be a set of four Kona style Tiki bases,
two were consignment and the lamps I still have.

The next unique consignment project was to make two bookend Tiki figures that emerge
from glowing Lava Pod lights. These guys are almost like Tiki action figures with poseable plywood limbs.

Awesome

And then some.

We're Back! This is awesome, I was so worried that "Tiki Central" was lost or corrupted somehow. But yay, Tiki history will be documented and shared for years to come. I see my thread for the most part is still complete. Thanks for your diligence Hanford, and how about a cyber toast to all the wonderful Tiki creators and connoisseurs here that make this a great site. Aloha' and cheers! - I've got some catching up to do so lets see what I've made in the last two yearssecondcompletefirstset9mermaid13oct8polemermaid10merdu1merdusa2

Not exactly "Tiki" my Mermaids and Octopi are well suited for the Tiki bars they went to -
