NOW OPEN: Trader Vic's pop up at the Capitol Hilton in Washington, DC

A buddy and I went there last night on the off chance that folks from corporate would be there setting up for the real opening tomorrow and we were right! They were most delightful and are excited about this project. The two higher ups from the hotel were great, too. Turns out they are tikifiles and are very supportive.

They all did a pretty good job in the build out based on the attached pictures. It is about 80% done. It would be great if they could put some kind of tiki fabric slip covers on the chairs, something I suggested and perhaps might be done. All in all, though, not bad for a pop up. Just seeing that big Trader Vic's sign as soon as you walk through the hotel entrance is enough to get the heart beating faster.

The menu is limited, but the Mai Tai I had was really good, and that was without the Trader Vic's Royal Amber rum, which they will have in stock soon. It is a righteous rum for a Mai Tai.

The pop up runs through Labor Day, with the hope that business will be good so that something permanent will follow. So, please visit often!

Great Pictures, Boom Boom Room! Looks like they got off to a pretty good start.

I do hope they expand the cocktail list!

Mahalo!

Thank you for the scouting party, and for posting photos.
