Don The Beachcomber Rum Barrel

I found a Don The Beachcomber Rum Barrel today at lunch. I did a quick search on ebay and found this completed auction (2/25/04) for the exact same barrel i found (w/ no manufacturer's ID). Is this really the value of this barrel or are their just some rich bidders out there? If its not worth this, what is the estimated value (besides priceless)?

That looks different than the one in Tiki Quest I think and I found one recently that looks the same 'cept it looks like almost all the brown has been wiped off. I'd like to know the story of these too.
