Kostas Bezos and the White Birds

Came across this album on Spotify and figured I would share. As far as I can tell, it’s Hawaiian music from the 1930s performed by Greek artists. What really surprised me was the animal noises on some of the tracks (including fake bird calls!), which as I understood it did not appear in mainstream Exotica music until the 1950s.

Anyway, have a listen: https://open.spotify.com/album/09aLWbNjtxyzfSk47xmZOu?si=GP8FIpHATf6QXrJBFmkltw

Wow! Good find! The "Utterly Crazy" track sounds a little Misirlou-ish....which I guess kinda makes sense! Very cool.

Cool find! I was intrigued because I found it on Bandcamp and tomorrow is Bandcamp Friday. And it is listed under Mississippi Records (but apparently nothing to do with the stay where we live). You can purchase the digital album or vinyl. https://mississippirecords.bandcamp.com/album/kostas-bezos-and-the-white-birds. Going to listen to the rest of the album while I work. Mahalo!

Reminds me a lot of the early Bob Brozman album "Hello Central, Give Me Doctor Jazz".

Well, I'll be checking THAT album out!

thanks for the Bandcamp link, listening now. Very unusual and cool stuff indeed.
