Okay… I know that what I've titled this post is an absolute impossibility. That's never stopped me from trying before, however! I'm sorry to repeat myself but I realized that I've only mentioned that which I am here to post and update on within another, specific conversation up until now. I brought it response to ClayBouTiki's post named Quieter Villages. You can find my post here. For anyone who is unaware, I operated a Music Sharity Blog back in the good old days when that was interesting and, to a very large extent, necessary in order to preserve historic sounds and to promote unheard artists and genres. There was a time, young'uns, when there was no such thing as Spotify, when YouTube didn't have a copy of every album, single and television appearance by any and every Musical Artist on the planet. The Blog is still functional but I have given it little attention recently. At least, I Had Until January of Last Year (2024) when I re-posted a Compilation put together back in 2006 and posted on a blog named Xtabay's World. It consisted of 21 different versions of "Quiet Village" by a variety of artists and in a range of styles. A second set was posted to Xtabay's World a few months later. I have since posted 6 more collections (Exotic Sounds of Quiet Village Volumes 3 - 8) and they are available for download at The Tuna Melt. This puts the Grand Total (So Far) of the collection currently available at 150 Different Versions of "Quiet Village". I hope that any of you who are interested can find something interesting and/or entertaining within the set. There are a few posts on The Tuna Melt that remain active after all this time (mostly the Holiday Compilations that I continued to construct, annually, until 2017). I'm currently separated from my vinyl collection but, once I'm able, I plan to rip as much Hapa Haole as possible and post it to the blog. Y'all are welcome to poke around and download anything you find interesting and available. Be advised, also, that the TAM TAM & Mélodie blog continues to post on a regular basis. Nico, the Blogger, seems to have run through his Exotica, Hapa Haole and Polynesian collections (though evidence suggests that they all continue to grow and that he'll get back to them at some point) but he also shares rips of Space-Age Pop, Lounge, Polka, Calypso and other interesting vintage records. He's currently posting the most complete collection of Command Records rips of which I'm aware. The vast majority of his posts remain active and he is famously amenable to re-posting any items that have aged out or, otherwise, stopped working. I really admire the single-minded insanity of this project, and I mean that in a good way! |

The saddest thing you can do with music is for it not to be listened to. And for that I am glad that there are people like yourself who make this music available so that ears can hear. Thank you so much Trader Vic for keeping this music alive. |
