Still suggesting Book of Tiki

So I've been away from this forum for literally decades and just found my way back. I had to create a new account because my old one is probably forever inaccessible. Anyway, on the About page, there's a "further reading" section at the bottom.

It only lists the Book of Tiki, which is the tiki bible of course and I'm happy I have one, but it's rare and out of print, so getting your hands on one is not easy.

Perhaps that could be updated to some other stuff like Smuggler's Cove, Minimalist Tiki, or Sippin Safari?

Why hasn’t this book been reprinted?

Black Water, it hasn't been reprinted because Taschen owns the rights to it and has decided that it's not worth the investment to reprint. In addition to the original hardcover, there was a full-sized trade paperback printing along with two "digest" reprints of it (which are damn hard to read with the tiny print). Taschen likely reasons that the market is tapped out. Full color books are crazy expensive to print, so they're not willing to make that investment.

Likewise, Tiki Modern was a comparatively slow seller. Taschen has never reprinted that one in any format. In contrast, Tiki Pop was a strong seller, so they reprinted it in the smaller, digest format (hardback!) but reworked the layout so that it's got more pages and the type is readable. Currently available for $16-20, it is the best bargain in tiki books. But Sven doesn't have much say whether a book gets reprinted or not.

Thanks. I do have Tiki Pop (bought from Sven at some show) but it's a bit kitsch for my taste. My current favorite tiki book is "Oceanic Arts: The Godfathers of Tiki." I bought the auction catalog too, and the two of those have inspired a lot of the art in my space.
