The Tiki Talk Show

My wife and I recently started a new podcast called The Tiki Talk Show. The show aims to focus on all the people who have helped the tiki revival in the last 35 years. We published our first two episodes recently and have our third coming out next Friday. We invite any feedback from you all and are actively looking for new people to talk to. We haven’t been super consistent posting on here but we now have six episodes published. There’s a number of questions that we have about was the scene was like in the 90s/early 2000s. I’m sure there’s a number of you on here that were there at some of these events.

Doing this show has been super fun and we hope that people are enjoying it. We have been saying we are a historical podcast and not just entertainment. We hope to keep bringing stories from the revival and modern artists. We have a lot planned but if there’s anyone you want to see on the show, let us know.

Historical and entertaining? So basically the Ken Burns of Tiki, but with more rum and less Civil War.

In the last month we have interviewed a ton of people, some for the show and some for a few more projects I’m working on. We sat down with Sven and just had a great time, his perspective is invaluable to what we are doing. This show revolves around the people who were there when tiki was being rediscovered. We have had a great response to the show and we really appreciate everyone who wants to come on and talk about their experiences. We do a ton of research for the show and we have seen clear differences in the revival as things have gone on. We put the start date for the revival as 1995 but we are trying to categorize the stylistic changes over times. If anyone has their own opinions about the phases of the revival, we would love to hear it.

One person that I can reccomend for a interview is Martin Tummino, he is the writer of the 2 most important books in Spanish Tiki Culture (Tiki en Español and Tiki Mugs: Pociones Formidable) and he is writing the third about the swizzle sticks around the world. His instagram is swizzologist and he have a lot of info how Tiki have influenced Latin America nowadays
