Hi! My name is Casey and I'm the co-director of Talking Tiki, a documentary film about the contemporary tiki movement since the 1990s. We are deep into post-production and are trying to round out out photo archives. We are looking for home photos of: -YOU, engaging in any sort of tiki activities in the 1990s -Early Tiki Oasis (pre-2010) -You or your parents or grandparents engaging in Tiki in the 1950s-1980s -Old tiki bars from the 1950s Unfortunately, we have no budget to offer, but you could see your name on the silver screen in our credits and obviously your photos could be the star of the show. Please email hi-resolution files to [email protected] or reach out and we can talk about how best to capture photos you may have. Thanks in advance! We are SO EXCITED to share our film with you hopefully later this fall :-) |

We have a pretty enormous archive of all that you mention. But ... this film, it has us VERY curious! Love the name of it, and love the idea. Yes, it was the mid-1990s Cocktail Nation era that started the modern Tiki Revival. And the Ground Zero of that Tiki Revival is right here, our beloved Tiki Central. Since it's already in post-production we're wondering, who appears in this film, where is it set, and how will any still photos fit in to the movie? Good luck with it and looking forward to hearing more details! |

Hi! We've been so lucky to interview many of the Tiki Greats: Sven, Otto and Baby Doe, Beachbum, Eve Bergeron, Mike Buhen, Marie King. And they've also introduced us to some amazing contemporary bartenders and designers: Garret Richard, Kory Stetina (of Mothership in San Diego), Shannon Mustipher, the Vatos Who Tiki,Sam Miller, Notch and Ivan Mora to name a few! We've edited the interviews together, but a film really only comes alive with visuals. Otto was generous to provide us with a few stills, but we realized having a few more would really help us bring their stories from the 90s and early 2000s alive. If you want to hop on a call, we'd be happy to chat! Just send an email to [email protected] |
