Since a lot of Tiki mugs take their inspiration from real cultural artifacts there are a few out there I'd like to see tiki-fied. Who's with me on this?

My wish list includes ...

  1. The "face" on Mars
  2. Those weirdo Peruvian ancient astronaut guys
  3. Mexican wrestlers (El Santo, perhaps?)

Not really Tiki, but fun. What do you think?

4- Barney the Dinosaur
and my personal fave...

5- Phyllis Diller

I have a Royal Doulton Toby Mug. Not a Tiki at all, bone china and too expensive, IMHO of Buddy Holly.

It's Buddy, complete with metal spectacles, and the handle (it's beer mug lookin' thing) is made up of 45s and lyric sheets. It's eerily photo-realistic as well.

I picked it up at Winners (Canadian TJ Maxx) for about $70 CAD, and found out it's worth about $250 US. Limited to 500 or something. Interesting, but not Tiki

I like the lipdisk idea. Also neckrings mug would be cool. Or dicknose.

One thing I'm always on the lookout for is something different.

It seems the the vast majority of tiki mugs are either : a) a head portrait, or b) a full length portrait. Things like the TV seahorse or bamboo mugs seem to be in the minority. Understandably, you're kind of limited by the format that you have to work in, but that's why tiki mug designers all drive Ferraris.

hmmmmm, how about a nice retro rocketship?
