great new movie about Rodney Bingenheimer

Last night I saw the movie Mayor of the Sunset Strip - the story of Rodney Bingenheimer. It was a very entertaining (but a bit sad) movie, especially for someone like myself who listened to Rodney on the Roc on KROQ to get their punk fix back in the early 80s. Rodney was the only DJ on regular radio to play punk starting back in the 70s, he introduced many people to punk and other "alternative" bands (I know, I hate that label too), and he continued to introduce people to good new bands throught the 80s and 90s and to this day. The lesser-known stories about his 60s groupie days and his 70s glam-rock club the English Disco (with amazing footage of Iggy, Bowie, and many others) are covered as well.

See it if you get a chance, as I think it's a limited run!

It is a pretty good movie. I got to see it last year during the CMJ music marathon.
