Apparently New Line Cinema has picked up 'Hawaiian Dick' (the comic series) to develop as a vehicle for Johnny Knoxville! At least according to [ Edited by: Tikitronic on 2004-04-22 09:15 ] |

For those that are unaware, this is our own Tiki Central's Hawaiian Dick. To have a comic strip bought up by the major movie companies is a really BIG DEAL, so a big Tiki high-five must go out to HD. Keep us posted, Hawaiian Dick - it sounds like a great adventure is about to begin. Trader Woody |

I read the story on CHUD and this sounds GREAT. I can't wait to see the film. I don't have any comic book stores near me. Does anyone know if I can order the comics on-line? |

I'm dying to know what transgression the eponymously named one committed in order to be exiled to Hawaii. What a lousy break! Guess I'll have to order the comics or wait for the movie to come out. |

I picked up the trade paperback version awhile back - very solid story, great art and tiki references aplenty. Very much a recommended purchase. Looking forward to series two! |

Well, there's extras in almost every bar scene I've ever seen...Plus, I was an extra punk in the bar scene in "Howard The Duck." Ooooh, impressive resume, no? [ Edited by: filslash 2008-09-12 13:01 ] |

http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/thr/film/article_display.jsp?vnu_content_id=1002236492 March 27, 2006 New Line, Coraci go 'Hawaiian' By Borys Kit Frank Coraci is attached to direct "Hawaiian Dick," a supernatural private eye thriller being produced by Practical Pictures' Craig Perry and Quattro Media's Jim Strader for New Line Cinema. Set in 1953 Hawaii, "Hawaiian" tells the story of a down-on-his-luck big-city detective who gets involved in a kidnapping case of a local island girl who turns up dead but won't stay that way. The script, by Damian Shannon and Mark Swift ("Freddy vs. Jason"), is based on the 2002 comic by B. Clay Moore and Steven Griffin. Johnny Knoxville was at one point pegged to star. New Line execs Cale Boyter and Luke Ryan are overseeing for the studio. Sheila Hanahan Taylor is exec producing. Coraci directed the upcoming "Click," starring Adam Sandler and Kate Beckinsale. He also helmed the Sandler hits "The Waterboy" and "The Wedding Singer." He is repped by Endeavor, Management 360 and attorney Jason Sloane. |

Just read about the big green light elsewhere on the web - congrats, B. You know I know how tough it is to actually have an optioned property make it to this point. And to think, I knew ya when...look forward to maybe booking this at either of our theaters sometime in the futre here in the East Bay and having you be our special guest, make a big tiki movie party out of it, winding up at Forbidden Island. Aloha, Will. |
