Party recipe idea please

Pages: 1 2 replies

I've been put in charge of making a "tropical" drink for our local block party this weekend.

I was wondering if anyone has suggestions for a drink that could be made in bulk (like in a 2 gal thermos) that would appeal to the widest range of people, and still have a good alcoholic punch to it.

Thanks for your help!

Hey Flange,
Can't go wrong with good 'ol Mai Tai's!
Here is the suggestion I got from Martiki:

"In one bottle: fresh lime juice

In another bottle: orgeat, orange curacao, and simple syrup in correct proportions.

In a third bottle: aged Jamaican and aged martinique in equal proportions.

Take 1-1.5 oz of bottle 1, 1 oz of bottle 2, and 2 oz of bottle three."

I didn't use a bottle of lime juice but opted to just squeeze a lime per drink.
Worked pretty well... If I remember correctly.
Aloha,
:tiki:

Here what I came up with, and it seemed to go over well:

1 Gallon pineapple juice
1/2 gallon orange Juice
1/4 cup grenadine
1 cup sweet & sour
10 ounces light rum
4 ounces amber rum
5 ounces citrus vodka
3 ounces creme de banana
3 ounces creme de noyeaux
3 ounces Midori
3 ounces apricot brandy

served warm over ice.

Our father/son campout group even agreed to give up beer in favor of this stuff for the next camp out!
