Check this out...just a bit expensive for me. A very unique item in paradise of the Hawaiian Islands is “KU”, THE GOD OF WAR. The tiki was carved by Paul Fujimoto, who is now deceased. Paul lived on the Big Island of Hawaii in Hilo and was a world renouned carver. He was asked to carve this tiki for James Michener for his movie “HAWAII”. It was carved approximately in the early 1960's. The movie was released on October 10, 1966 starring Julie Andrews, Max Von Sydow, Richard Harris, Carroll O'Connor, Gene Hackman and Manu Tupou. Directed by George Roy Hill. In 1977 it was purchased by Kimo Kahoano (The Man of the Merrie Monarch) and myself for the Hawaiian musical production of ‘O Hawaii. The tiki stands 58 inches tall. It stands in a base that measures 27 inches tall. Both pieces are made from Milo wood. The tiki has been on view at Kimo’s home in Honolulu since 1978. It has been well maintained as you can view in the pictures. The shipping will be the responsibility of the buyer. The shipping costs are approximate and the example is from Honolulu to Harrisburg, PA the estimated cost would be $1500.00 [ Edited by Humuhumu to fix too-long url ] [ Edited by: Humuhumu on 2004-08-30 08:45 ] |
