massim sword

I'm after some expert info.

A friend of mine got me a sword as a gift. I've done some digging and found it's in the style of the massim area.

The design only appears on one side.

I know it's not of huge historical value or interest, but if anyone knows if this is real or just tourist tat. Plus what or how the real sword would have been used. For real fighting or just for show?

Tat or not I love it.
