what kind of wood makes for a good tiki?

im not too experienced in this and have so far just been carving some soft woods i have found around our garage and i live in canada so i cant really get any of those woods from out there so i was just wondering if anybody has any ideas about some good carving woods that would be great.

I like white pine or basswood. Just good, malleable woods that hold detail well..

Hey Duddy. I carved some poplar not too long ago... that seemed real nice to carve. Of course I'm no expert like BK...just a fellow Canadian who may be able to speak to the types of logs we have around here.

I have carved cedar or pine and have been happy with both.

Just about any log you can find will make a good tiki, as long as it is not rotten and full of bugz. Go to your local firewood guy and ask him for some wood, he'll fix you up.

How can it grow on trees when it is the tree...
moss grows on trees...

Use mexican fan palm I like that..
