Thought you all would like this...
This thing is huge.. probably 30 inches across.. Best part..
It was 99$ and made of RESIN.. Got it at Z Gallery!! Cool affordable,
and environmentally friendly way to get one of these huge shells!!

Love the way they look filled with Bromiliads also :)

That's fantastic! I looked it up on Z Gallerie's site, and was quickly disappointed, though:

Not recommended for outdoor use, or anywhere that moisture may be present.

That rules out using them as fountains, punch bowls or sinks -- the three immediate uses I dreamed of. Oh well! I suppose they possibly could be coated or lined with something to allow the use of moisture, but I would imagine the appearance might suffer. I love your use of it, though, it looks great.

Thanks HumaHuma

It IS resin, so I dont know why "no moisture"

I would imagine coating it with a clear polyurothane (sp?) like they coat resin sailboats would make it water tight... Would jsut also make it a bit shiney.. not the natural 'dull' look.. but still.. Im SURE its water safe NOW.. they just dont want to be held accountable for someone doing something with it that way...

Go to any marine store like WEST MARINE here in the Bay Area and they will give you the good stuff!!!

Hi, I found this link to some pretty large clam shells (21.25"Wx14"Dx9"H)
They are made of hand-cast fiberglass and therefore, should weather well outdoors.Price isn't too bad $59.95.Hope this helps!
