palama watercolor (palm painting)

Pages: 1 4 replies

Finally got around to framing it to return it to a friend I painted it for. Someone is getting a nice Christmas gift, back, that they have forgotten about. I've had it 'to frame' for about 20 years. Does anyone else procrastinate? or live on 'island time'?

media was dr. martins watercolors & airbrush with gouche. palm was a beauty that I could see out my window. friend had moved from LA to Tacoma for college and was having severe skyline palm tree withdrawal.

Thats a cool frame, looks like the frame is twenty years old

Yes, its just retro enough ala' Tommy Bahama to tie a theme thing all together. The store that framed it at am artist owned shop (David), Picture Frame Warehouse on Western av. in RPV (90275 zip).

Ever been to Royal Palms ???

Yup!!

ever hit the sneaky pile of rock(s) on the inside surfing the point or
had the purple urchin carpet leave spine (tips) in your feet thru rubbah booties??
or have some inconsiderate soul surfer leave a 16D penny nail in your tire parked along the end of Paseo when parking for a session at Japs?

Anyone have a plamsa cutter & the capability to remove the rebar urchins on the south side of the main getty at RP? That would open that second cove section up

my first & only hospital visit to an ER was @ SPPH was from slamming that rock at the point. I had a bruise the size of a TG turkey. Missed a week of work, too. Still hurts thinking back on it. Robert, another surfer at RP, and an emergency medical room guy, looked at that bruise and quipped, 'ohh, THAT ROCK!! it has brought me alot of company in the ER'

That particular painted palm was in LB, though.
