Everyone start singing "Tiny Cremains" :) HONOLULU (AP) - Emily ``Honey'' Ho, mother of entertainer Don Ho and grandmother of pop singer Hoku, died on Tuesday. She was 90. Don Ho began has career at his parents' popular bar and restaurant, Honey's Cafe in Kaneohe, which he took over in the late 1950s. At the bar one night, a customer said the place needed some music. Don Ho set up an organ and began to sing. Honey and James Ho, who had nine children, opened the cafe before World War II, serving up Honey's hamburgers and Hawaiian food. Honey Ho, who grew up in the Kakaako section of Honolulu, sang in the Kawaiahao Church choir, worked in the Dole pineapple cannery and picked kiawe beans to sell. |
